The metronome occupies a symbolic place on the map of Prague. It was here that a gigantic monument to J.V. Stalin once rose to the sky, which was removed (by dynamite) only many years after Stalin's death, in 1962.
The seven-ton Metronome by the sculptor Vratislav Karel Novák was installed on Letná in 1991. It symbolizes the inexorable passage of time and a warning reminder of the past.
